Step-by-Step Guide to Using the Gender API Integrately Integration

Step 1: Setting Up the Trigger for New Subscriber in Mailchimp

In this first step, we configure a trigger in Integrately to activate the workflow whenever a new subscriber is created or updated in Mailchimp.

  • Choose the Trigger App: Select Mailchimp as the app to initiate this automation.
  • Set Trigger Event: Choose the event Subscriber is created/updated. This ensures that the workflow is triggered anytime there is a new addition or update to the subscriber list.
  • Configure List ID: Choose the specific List ID where the subscriber is added, in this example, it’s set to Ozan Soft.

Once the trigger is set, click Get Latest Record to verify that the information is being pulled correctly from Mailchimp. You’ll see fields like First Name, Email Address, Country Code, and other relevant details associated with the subscriber. This data will be used in the next steps to personalize the gender identification process.

Step 2: Retrieve Gender Information Using Gender API

With the trigger established, the next step is to set up an action to retrieve gender information based on the subscriber’s details using Gender API.

  • Choose the Action App: Select Gender API from the available options in Integrately.
  • Set Action Event: Choose Get Gender from Name as the action event to allow the Gender API to determine gender based on the subscriber's name.
  • Connect: Click Connect and ensure your Gender API account is linked. If this is the first time, you’ll need to input your API key.
  • Data Input: Map the First Name field from Mailchimp data to Gender API to retrieve the gender information accurately.

This action will send the subscriber’s name to Gender API, which will analyze and return gender information based on the input.

Step 3: Add Gender Tag to the Subscriber in Mailchimp

  • Choose the Action App: Add another action and select Mailchimp.
  • Set Action Event: Select Add Tags to Contact. This action automatically updates the subscriber's profile with a gender-specific tag (e.g., “male” or “female”).
  • Connect: Click Connect and ensure your existing Mailchimp account is linked.
  • Input Data: Map the gender data retrieved from Gender API to the tags field in Mailchimp, ensuring that the appropriate tag is applied to the subscriber's profile.

Step 4: Test the Workflow

After completing the setup, it’s essential to test the workflow to ensure it functions as expected:

  • Add a New Subscriber: Create a new subscriber entry in Mailchimp.
  • Verify Automation: Check that the automation is triggered, the gender is retrieved from Gender API, and the tag is correctly added to the subscriber in Mailchimp.

Once the test is successful, activate the workflow to fully automate the gender identification process in your Integrately-Mailchimp integration.
